Did you buy a home last year in Florida and you currently reside in it as of Jan. 1. Well, you might be eligible for the
Homestead tax exemption up to $50,000. Florida residents have until March 1 to apply for the homestead tax exemption. 

You should receive your recorded deed in a few weeks after closing

The deadline to file for the homestead exemption is March 1

Required information for the online homestead exemption application process:

·         Date of permanent occupancy in the home

·         Recorded deed or prior tax bill

·         Social Security number of applicant and spouse (if applicable)

·         Last year's address

·         Permanent resident Alien Card (Green Card), if not a United States citizen.

·         Physical address of other property (if applicable)

·         Florida Driver's License number and issue date of the applicant (must have the current address)

If you do not have a Florida Driver's License you must provide at least one of the following:

·         Florida Identification Card – the number and issue date of your ID card

·         Florida Vehicle registration tag number

·         Florida Voter Registration information (if applicable)

·         Recorded Duval County Declaration of Domicile book and page number
